Eastside 3V3 Charity Basketball Tournament raises $2,200!

We at Covenant House Vancouver strive to embody the theme of “togetherness” in the work we do. Recently, we were shown a great example of that theme in action. We received a $2,200 donation thanks to the Eastside 3V3 Charity Basketball tournament – a community fundraiser organized by Face of Today Britannia students! We are incredibly grateful that this day-long tournament drew together over 30 teams across the boys, girls, and adult divisions, all with the goal of raising awareness and funds for youth experiencing homelessness.

With the generous support of Basketball BC and the Vancouver Basketball Foundation who provided players with prizes, referees, and basketballs, the day kicked off bright and early at 8:30 am. Everybody gathered at the Steve Nash Family Court for team check-ins and warmups to start off. Throughout the event, volunteers kept things running smoothly by emceeing the tournament, score-keeping, hosting games, managing team check-ins, and working the concession stands. Some community partners, including: Fire Pizza, Pnomh Penh, Britannia Centre, Starbucks, Nesters, and Costco, provided delicious food items. They kept spectators and players alike well-fed and energized during this action packed day! Additional support also came from SportChek, Downlow Chicken, Earnest Ice Cream, and Coastal Reign.

A big congratulations and thank you to the young people of Britannia High School, for pulling off such a wonderful event and coming together to support the youth at Covenant House Vancouver!
