Volunteers create connected communities!

April 24-30 is National Volunteer Appreciation Week, and it is a time to celebrate Canada’s volunteers. The National Volunteer Week theme for 2022, Volunteering Is Empathy In Action, affirms the strong connection between volunteerism and empathy. This profoundly human connection is at the heart of healthier individuals and stronger communities.

Our volunteers have remained engaged, and committed and their support has never dwindled even during the challenging global pandemic. Volunteers at Covenant House Vancouver have:

• Virtually meet with youth to help with schooling
• Helped youth to virtual file their income taxes
• Donated and provided meals
• Donated non-perishable food items in support of Covey’s Cupboard (our free food bank)
• Decorated gift bags & boxes and created holiday cards for youth
• Spread the word when we have held 50/50 Raffles and other contests
• Mentors continue to support their youth mentees

We are so grateful to have the help and kindness of so many amazing volunteers here at Covenant House Vancouver – whether just for one afternoon or year-round, volunteers are an important part of providing relentless support to our young people!
