With food costs rising, inflation rates climbing, and a housing crisis young people are struggling to pay bills, keep themselves fed, and stay housed. More youth than ever are walking that fine line between being able to make it on their own and needing support.
We know that when we show up for young people at the right moment, with the right support it can change the arc of their life.
Youth may visit Covey’s Cupboard, so they don’t have to choose between rent or food. Or speak with Marc from our Housing Team to learn how to Rent Smart. Maybe they meet an Outreach Work who gives them a sandwich and offers to bring them to the Drop-In for a hot shower. Or a youth shows up at our door who has no housing, and we can say yes, we have a safe, warm bed for you right now.
These moments when we can show up unconditionally with relentless support for young people can make all the difference.
But we can’t and don’t do it alone. We do it with a community of support and supporters by our side. We know times are hard for a lot of people right now.
