The holiday season is a time of joy, warmth, and giving, and at CHV, we believe in making it special for the youth in our care. For the youth, age 16 to 24, who have found themselves at Covenant House Vancouver, this time of year can be particularly challenging and difficult.
What Is the Caring Calendar?
The Caring Calendar brings a holiday cheer to the young people who access CHV’s services.
Much like the beloved tradition of an advent calendar, our Caring Calendar provides the youth in our care with an activity or item each day from December 1st to December 25th. This daily anticipation builds excitement as they look forward to receiving a special gift or to participate in a festive activity leading up to Christmas.
The heart of the Caring Calendar lies in the activities and items that youth enjoy. Some examples of activities that have brought smiles to their faces in previous years include:
- Pizza Party: Sharing a meal with friends is a simple yet meaningful pleasure.
- Making Gingerbread Houses: This festive activity lets youth unleash their creativity and get into the holiday spirit.
- Spa Night: A chance to relax, pamper themselves, and feel rejuvenated.
- Smoothie Party: A delicious and healthy treat, perfect for enjoying with friends.
In addition to activities, items like gift cards, journals, movie tickets, and festive socks are greatly appreciated. These items offer a sense of comfort to the youth, making their holiday season a little brighter.
A Warm Shoutout to Trans-Pacific Trading Ltd.
Recently, a volunteer team from Trans-Pacific Trading Ltd. Came to CHV to spread good cheer. The volunteers giftwrapped 100 items for youth. In addition, they donated and giftwrapped 35 gingerbread kits for our Caring Calendar (for December 14th), and created a lot of candy bags!
We are extremely grateful for the care and involvement that Trans-Pacific Trading Ltd. demonstrates towards the youth at CHV, time and time again. Thanks to organizations, like Trans-Pacific Trading Ltd., there will be a lot of smiles from youth, this holiday season.

You still have a chance to make a real difference in the lives of young people, by participating in our Caring Calendar. There are still spots available to fill with holiday joy. Join us in giving hope for the holidays and for making these young people’s lives a little brighter.
If you’d like to sponsor a night, but don’t have the time or resources to put something together, we will make it easy for you. For a $1,000 contribution, we’ll handle the item or activity, and we’ll proudly acknowledge your generosity on our social media platforms.
